The International Conference on Teacher Education (ICTED) is a biennial event organized by the College of Education, University of the Philippines, Diliman. The conference serves as a venue for sharing ideas among academicians, educationists, teacher-practitioners, school administrators, and policymakers on how teacher education can best serve society. It is an opportune occasion to share experiences and create networks and a perfect forum for discussions that consider rapid intellectual and socio-economic transformations and emerging technologies, improved interconnectedness within the global village, and the challenge to uphold equity.
After a six-year hiatus, the 11th ICTED will be held on November 13-15, 2024 at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICON) in Iloilo City, Philippines.
The theme for the ICTED 2024 is Preparing Teachers for Education 5.0 Toward Sustainable Futures: Thrusts, Challenges, and Praxis. We envision this conference to examine the extent to which advances in technology have resulted in changes in education [thrusts and praxis]; and underscore that technology should serve the best interests of both learners and teachers (UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report, 2023).
Hopefully, ICTED 2024 will advance careful, appropriate, equitable, and sustainable use of technology in education and reiterate the importance of using technology for a more humanized teaching [challenges]. The theme also covers key aspects of Education 5.0, such as generative AI, virtual and augmented reality, and other inventive tools in the context of teacher education and professional development.
